5 struggles I was faced with while doing NYSC

Hey Lovelies
Today I will just try to sum up some of the challenges I faced.

These are just a few of them that stood out for me.

1. Braving through living in an unfamiliar place:
Prior to my NYSC year, I never visited Abeokuta. Being “thrown” there with absolutely no one I knew to help me navigate some of the challenges that were peculiar to the place was quite challenging initially, but I gradually eased into it.

2. Earning meagre stipends:
I don’t understand how to put in a lot of hard work when the output doesn’t equate the input. Sometimes, money is a great motivating factor and this experience emphasised that. I had to condition my brain to see it more like a volunteering experience and it was much easier to handle afterwards.

3. Having restricted movements:
I couldn’t just wake up and travel anywhere without getting explicit permissions. That sucks btw

4. Avoiding NYSC officials:
I say avoiding because I did not quite understand how to put up with their excesses any other way. Just understand that NYSC officials are very interesting. I still cannot fathom what drives them yet.

5. Wearing whites and khaki:
To be honest, I don’t naturally appreciate being restricted to uniforms. When that uniform looks quite like the NYSC khaki, you can be sure I loathed the experience.
